Seriously, single moms are my heroes.  A single mom often times acts as both parents for their kids.  (I know, there are great single dads out there too and I give you guys PROPS, but allow me to focus on the single mom for the moment.)  Typically, a single mom works, takes care of the home, and raises the child or children all on her own.  She may collect child support, but often times it doesn’t even cover groceries for the week.  I know because I was once a single mom.  It was all on me.  The tiny bit of help I received truly did not cover groceries for the week.  It was up to me to carry a job, find the right school or child care, let them be in an activity if they wanted, and be on time to all of the above. Then provide the support, encouragement, kisses for the boo-boos, homework assistance, meals, and so on and so on each and every day.  And often times without a break.

Do you know of anyone in this situation?

One of the things I love about Pink Zebra is our HEROES Charity.  It is for the single mom.  To offer some relief in their world.  To provide days of day care so that mom can breath a little for a few weeks.  (Sometimes even months!)  For every $500 party that a consultant has, a day of day care is put in to a bank of days.  When a single mom fills out our quick application from our website, she can be rewarded with several days at a time!  I would have loved and appreciated this kind of thing when I was in that place in my life.  No doubt it would have gone to assisting with the dental work or new shoes for my child, but would that not be somewhat of a big relief?  It would have been for me.
