It’s Thanksgiving here in the US and what more fitting topic is there than to talk about what I am thankful for!
The obvious
Of course there are the obvious things…our God that is faithful, my family, my friends, our home (roof over our head), food, our businesses & jobs, Bucee & Cooper, our customers (many that are or have become friends!), our team…all those things we sometimes take for granted but always love dearly.
But let’s think outside the obvious
I’m grateful for the crazy and sometimes painful experiences I’ve had in my life. As I always say, these things got me to where I am today.
Being able to overcome fears is something I’m very grateful for. Many years ago I would have been frozen in my tracks trying some new things and adventures. Not willing to get outside my comfort zone. Often times because I was afraid of looking dumb or messing up.
Now however, I look forward to these experiences and adventures. I also believe this has so much to do with being able to share these experiences with family and close friends that I know love me for who I am, and if I look silly or fail miserably, they will be there to still cheer me on.
Having that kind of support is big. Realizing people love us for who we are and not just what we can do for them is huge. I don’t think I quite understood that most of my life, but I do now. SO, today, thanksgiving day, I am SO thankful for those that love me for me. And I love you right back. BIG.
In addition
There is also someone I worked with quite a bit over the last few years that helped me to open up and be willing to let my worry and fear go. She helped me work through things that were holding me back. I’d be remiss if I didn’t mention how much she helped me move past some of the things that I didn’t even realize were stopping me. So thank you Judith. (I highly recommend reaching out…click here for more info on Judith. She’s amazing!)
Grace
I’m so very grateful for the grace that Jesus has taught me. Because of His example and words from our Bible, He has taught me so much about grace. When I know I should be upset or hurt with someone, He helps me get past that and realize He loves us all. Therefore who am I? I may not like it, but I say my prayer for seeing them with a grace filled heart.
All the motivational speakers out there…
There are so many motivational speakers, but I’m super thankful that these people want to share their wisdom and ways to overcome the negative that wants to knock us down each day. I give my biggest thanks to Brendon Burchard whose trainings and words really got me realizing my potential and having the guts to bet on me. If you aren’t connected yet to someone, give him a listen. He always offers more value than expected.
Places I’ve seen
I’ll conclude with being thankful for the places I’ve seen. Our country has so many beautiful places to see, and I’ve been to many of them. And then we have our World! I’ve not been to most of it, but the places I’ve been blessed to see have been captivating. It just makes me realize how small we all are on this planet, and how fortunate and blessed we are to have such beauty around us.
I’m very aware that not everyone lives in a beautiful situation, or has big struggles they are dealing with now. My heart hurts when I think about it because I wish everyone happiness and love. I pray that there are things each and every person can be grateful for, and that they are blessed beyond measure in some way.
I also hope you will consider sharing some things you are grateful for. We love our family and friends to the moon and back, of course, but think outside that. What areas has your life been blessed? Share your gratefulness.
Happy Thanksgiving
I wish you all a happy Thanksgiving. May your bellies be full, your hearts be happy, and your friends and family be nearby.
xoxo,
