Theme Days!

Hi! I'm Dana! I'm a married mom (empty nester to be exact), have 2 dogs, and am a Team Leader inspiring others in their Business! I love providing what I believe is the best home fragrance and décor on the market today!

Theme days for me started just over 2 years ago and now I can’t imagine how I did things without them. The title sounds fairly generic, but there is a method to this. If you follow this method, you will be very organized, which leads to more productivity and then more success! I’m going to share my specific theme days, but anyone can take this idea and make each day a theme based on what works for YOU!

Monday!

Monday has become one of my favorite days of the week! Now that I am my own boss especially. It’s the day that I begin. It’s the fresh start. It’s the indication of how great my week ahead can be! I have big expectations for Mondays!

On Monday I focus on MOTIVATION. I call it Motivate Yourself Monday. Not at all original, I know. But important! Monday is the day that I spend some time finding that motivation that I want to use throughout the week, as well as share with my team. I spend some time listening to trainings from Motivational Speakers that appeal to me. I also take this day to determine any topics for Team Meetings that I may have for the week. Anything that assists in getting myself and/or my team motivated!

Tuesday!

Tuesday is my TEAM day. Whether it be a team call that I will be doing, or one-on-one coaching with my Team, I schedule a lot of this on Tuesdays. I find it is a perfect follow up to Monday because I was knee deep in Motivation and it carries over! Sounds pretty simple right? It is! As I come up with things that I need or want to do for the team, I make a note to complete them on Tuesdays!

Wednesday!

Wednesday tends to be my follow up day. I know I will be at my desk for a few hours on Wednesday, so I schedule follow up calls on this day of the week. Follow up with my customers, hostesses, potential team members, etc. And knowing that I will be at my desk on Wednesday, I will also schedule time for doing office work. Whether that means paying bills or taking care of some personal follow up things, Wednesday is the perfect day to do this.

Thursday!

Thursday is my marketing day! I couldn’t think of a clever name for it, but it is one of the most important days of the week in my business. I focus on the marketing side of my business. That could mean taking photographs to use in social media. It could be blogging. Branding and marketing are SO important in a small business!

Friday!

Friday is for FUN, reflection, and any follow up I may not have gotten to earlier in the week! It’s so important to reflect on what we did throughout the week! It helps us realize we have much to be grateful for. It gives us an excuse to do a little happy dance or celebrating! It also can be used for thinking of what we may not have accomplished and what we can do different the following week!

Friday is the perfect day to plan something fun to celebrate your week. Maybe it’s lunch with a friend, or relaxing for an hour or two and catching up on a favorite book. My philosophy is work hard enough to feel like you earned it! So come Friday, I am in celebration mode and ready to spend the weekend with my husband, family and friends.

Now what?

So now that you have seen what my theme is each day, let me explain what this all means. It means that while an idea pops in to my head about some marketing I want to do, instead of getting sidetracked and trying to handle it alongside what ever else I am working on, I go to that page on my calendar for next week and make myself a note on Thursday because that is the day I handle marketing! Jotting it down allows me to stay on task without forgetting what I was thinking about, but also letting that go while I complete my task at hand.

Keeping myself focused and jotting down the thoughts that come up (because we all have them!), has been the best thing I have ever done. I get so much more accomplished. Before, I would have days that by the end of the day I had no idea what I had done all day long. I would have so many distractions, so by the time I was trying to get back to my original task, I couldn’t get myself back in to my rhythm. This helps me complete my work before I move to the next thing.

What about my Party?

Appointments and Parties? YES! I schedule them on my calendar of course! And then I will schedule out my 1-2 hour time slot to work on those particular theme items before or after. It all works and my calendar flows!

What are your techniques for staying on track and being productive with your day? I’d love for you to share!! In the meantime, enjoy making the most of your day!
